Diversity in health care

More and more, the health care system has to take the diversity of the Dutch population into account. The way people use health care is partially determined by the way they experience its quality, their experiences with care and their knowledge of the care on offer. In the case of migrants, other considerations are their ethnicity, cultural background and their birth country’s frame of reference. This subject matter is complex and demands a lot more research. The coming years, one of NIVEL’s activities will be a study, financed at a European level, into ‘good practices’ of care for migrants in 16 European countries, researching the quality of obstetric care for clients of foreign descent.
