NIVEL regularly assesses policy measures in the field of medication. The last few years, for example, research has been done into the implementation of the Medicinal Products Advertising Act [Reclamebesluit Geneesmiddelen]. The next few years, topics on the agenda include the abolishing of reimbursement of sleep medication and tranquilizers, insurer’s rules for preferred and exclusively financed medicines and the influence of legislation and regulation on differentiation in pharmaceutical care. The research line of Pharmaceutical care is also involved in a doctoral research project by Utrecht University in which an international comparative study of medication policy and use of medication is being conducted.
