Exploring market opportunities of self-management tools

COMPAR-EU is a European project to identify the most effective and cost-effective self-management interventions for chronic diseases. At the moment we prepare the implementation of the results of this project in clinical practice by building an IT platform. With this platform, stakeholders like healthcare professionals, patients and guideline developers will be able to easily choose the most effective and cost-effective self-management interventions for patients with chronic diseases. In May 2022, we will organise workshops for individuals and organisations that are willing to explore the opportunities of self-management tools and how they can best be implemented in practice.

The workshops

What do we want to explore?

  • How decision tools could be embedded in the value chain and assess commercial issues surrounding market exploitation, such as competition and procurement procedures;
  • How to market the decision tools to different stakeholder groups;
  • The opportunities for implementation and what the barriers to the use of self-management decision tools are.

Attending the workshop, you will get an opportunity to:

  • Learn about new innovations, self-management tools, and state-of-the-art research developed by the COMPAR-EU consortium;
  • Network and exchange knowledge with other companies working in the same field;
  • Be a part of the transformation of research results into the practice;
  • Start a new cooperation to implement self-management tools in real life

We will organize two workshops:

  • Workshop 1: Exploring market opportunities of self-management tools with participants from mHealth start-ups and the HIT community
  • Workshop 2: Exploring market opportunities of self-management tools with participants from health care industry

About the research

COMPAR-EU is a multimethod, interdisciplinary project that will contribute to bridging the gap between current knowledge and practice of self-management interventions. It aims to identify, compare and rank the most effective and cost-effective self-management interventions for adults in Europe with the four high-priority chronic diseases: diabetes, heart failure, COPD and obesity. Nivel is one of the main partners in the COMPAR-EU project together with the Fundación Avedis Donabedian (Spain), European Patients´ Forum (Belgium), Institute for Medical Technology Assessment (Netherlands), Fundació Privada Institut de Recerca de l´Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (Spain), Optimedis (Germany) and the University of Ioannina (Greece). COMPAR-EU is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

This research project relates to Nivel's research program Care Demand of the Chronically Ill and Disabled (lead by Hennie Boeije, PhD).
