CRP point of care testing and antibiotics prescribing in primary care out-of-hours

More and more GP practices and primary care out-of-hours services have a C reactive protein point of care test available. This test can be used to determine whether the patient has a bacterial infection. In other words, it helps to determine whether a patient requires an antibiotic.
Did the use of a CRP point of care test at the out-of-hours services of Stichting Samenwerkende Huisartsendiensten Rijnland (SHR) lead to a change in antibiotic prescribing?
This was studied with routine electronic health data from primary out-of-hours services (amongst which SHR) collected in NIVEL Primary Care Database. We compare the trend in antibiotic prescribing before and after introduction of the CRP-test.
More insight into antibiotic prescribing before and after introduction of the CRP-test at out-of-hours services of SHR.
