On the road to a system to provide insight in quality of palliative care. Subproject III: feasibility study integral information about quality of palliative care.

In the last decade, research and practice of palliative care in the Netherlands took a flight. However, no reliable, continuous and broad insight into the quality of palliative care exists. The aim of this project is to establish a set of easy to register quality indicators and related registry entries, and an integrated information system.

How can quality indicators be extracted from existing information systems and linked, such that a complete picture of the quality of palliative care at micro, meso and macro levels arises?

Research into the feasibility of linking registration systems and data extraction to measure the final set of quality indicators, by means of interviews, examination of websites and documentation, and assessment of legal issues.

An internal report with advice on the selection of three linkable databases including information about the willingness to make the databases available, financial, practical and legal terms, extractability and interconnectivity, comprehensiveness, and suitability for the calculation of quality indicators.
