Tailor-made care; better tune to patients’ health literacy skills

Differences in patients’ health literacy are infrequently taken into account in health care. In this study the barriers to tailor-made care will be explored. Furthermore insight will be provided into current methods and instruments to better tune health care to health literacy skills.

What should healthcare providers and institutions do to tune care to the health literacy skills of patients? What barriers are experienced by healthcare providers and organizations during the implementation of policy, scientific insights, and tools related to health literacy?

The research questions will be answered by applying an international literature review and focus groups/interviews.
