Project descriptionThis research will examine the current state of science concerning the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic and exercise therapy interventions in patients with low back pain. The research question is: "To what extent is physiotherapy and exercise therapy effective in patients with low back complaints without alarming symptoms indicating serious pathology?". The research is an update of a systematic literature review on this subject on which the guideline for the treatment of patients with lower back complaints from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence NICE) is based. The National Health CAre Institute will inlcude this current state of art in its advice to the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport about the reimbursement of physiotherapy and remedial therapy for patients with low back pain. This contributes to evidence-based health care policy.
