Research

Mees Baartmans works as a health services researcher at the Nivel research program ‘Organisation and Quality of Care’, and is a PhD candidate at Amsterdam University Medical Centres. Mees’ research focuses on various aspects of patient safety, including sentinel event analysis, safe staffing, diagnostic error, and safe use of medical technology. He has a particular interest in how Human Factors/Ergonomics principles can be used to further improve patient safety. His main work relates to the nationwide study on the incidence and nature of adverse events in Dutch hospitals.
