NIVEL another four years Collaborating Centre of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for Primary Health Care

NIVEL had been accredited to be a WHO Collaborating Centre for Primary Health Care for another period of four years.

From 1987 already, NIVEL has been a WHO Collaborating Centre for Primary Health Care. With this title, the World Health Organisation acknowledges NIVEL’s expertise and the research NIVEL is doing in this field. In accrediting NIVEL, the WHO supports NIVEL in its endeavour to contribute to further development of primary care in the world by scientific research. Strengthening primary care is one of the target areas in WHO’s policy.

The work plan for the next four years consists of activities in primary care, on the one hand, managed by dr. W. Boerma, such as the implementation of the  ‘Primary Care Quality Management tool’ and the ‘Primary Care Evaluation Tool’. NIVEL carries out these activities especially in the European WHO-region, which reaches as far as widely into Asia. On the other hand, NIVEL will support the WHO in spreading knowledge and expertise on the position of patients, carers and public and private institutions in health care in member states.
