Impact of influenza, pneumococcal and COVID-19 vaccination on antibiotic use
Duration: Nov 2021 - Dec 2022
Background
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an increasing threat to global health. Vaccination against infectious diseases can prevent infections and decrease antibiotic use and AMR.
Aim
The aim of this research is to study the impact of vaccination on antibiotic use and propose best-practice methods to collect antibiotic use data in vaccine research.
Methods
We will update two existing literature reviews on vaccination and antibiotic usage and perform a systematic literature review and meta-analysis including influenza, pneumococcal and COVID-19 vaccination. We will also review the antibiotic use data collection methods in vaccine trials.
Results
The results of this study will be published in a scientific article and presented at an international conference (OPTIONS for the Control of Influenza XI).
