Implementing evidence-based tools through participatory action research enhances palliative care for individuals with intellectual disabilities

To enhance the quality of palliative care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ten specialized care services implemented six evidence-based tools. This resulted in an increased knowledge and awareness of palliative care policy and increased skills among healthcare professionals. Improving palliative care requires an approach that is specific to the context, flexible and involves all stakeholders.
