Main results f the monitoring of the influenza vaccination coverage 2012 (scope: 61 general practices with 259,348 listed patients):
‐ 31.8% of the practice population was identified as target population.
‐ Vaccination rate in the target population dropped from 65.7% in 2011 to 62,4% in 2012 which covers 19.8% of the practice population (19.7% in 2011).
‐ The vaccination rate was 76.3% for people with diabetes mellitus, 74.5% for people with cardiovascular diseases, and 66.4% for people with lung disease.
‐ 22.1% of the practice population was identified as being at risk due to their age (60 years or older), the
vaccination rate in this group was 67.8%.
‐ The vaccination rate was 51.2% for people with only one risk indication, and increased to 75.3% for people with two or more risk indications.
‐ The gradual decrease in coverage for the fourth consecutive year concerns mainly the age of 60 to 65 years: it dropped from 56.2% in 2011 to 49.8% in 2012.

Monitoring the flu vacconation coverage, as part of the National Flu Prevention Program
Each year in autumn, people at high risk of complications from influenza receive an invitation to the flu shot from their general practitioner. Nivel closely monitors the vaccination coverage each year. The monitor is conducted by Nivel on behalf of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
