Panel of People with Lung Disease
In gathering information about the care and living situation of people with a chronic lung disease from the perspective of patients themselves, we aim to help policy makers in improving the care for chronically ill and disabled members of the society.
The panel consists of approximately 1.200 members of the National Panel of people with Chronic illness or Disability’ (NPCD) with a medical diagnosis of Asthma, COPD or other, rare chronic lung diseases. The panel started in 2001.
All panel members receive, besides the two yearly questionnaires of the NPCD, one questionnaire each year about topics that are especially relevant for people with a lung disease, such as:
- air quality, at home and in the public environment
- use of inhalers
- experiences with lung care
The Panel of People with Lung Disease is financed by the Dutch Lung Foundation.
We have now over 15 years of data that are used and can be used for research, policy development and evaluation. For more information about the panel and about the use of the panel for research purposes, feel free to contact the Nivel senior researcher and coordinator of this panel Monique Heymans PhD: M.Heijmans@nivel.nl
