Sixma, H., Spreeuwenberg, P. Quality of general practitioner care from the patients' perspective: facts, trends and differences. In: G.P. Westert; L. Jabaaij; F.G. Schellevis. Morbidity, performance and quality in primary care: Dutch general practice on stage. Oxon: Radcliffe Publishing, 2006. 211-218
The aim of this chapter is to assess the quality of general practitioner (GP) care in the Netherlands from the patients' point of view and to look at the changes in quality of GP care between 1987 and 2001. Finally, we explore the differences in quality of care between practices. We conclude that, although Dutch patients are usually very satisfied with their GPs, results show that quality improvement on items that refer to organisational quality is possible. (aut. ref.)
