Senior researcher Communication in Healthcare

Research

As senior researcher ‘Communication in healthcare’ I coordinate, initiate and conduct various studies to (better) understand and improve communication between patients (or clients) and healthcare providers. For example by making and observing video recordings and giving feedback, whereby we gain insight into what is happening in real-life practice and can respond to current care and policy issues. From my background as an interdisciplinary social scientist, I look at both the patients' perspective and the care provider's perspective, as well as at the mutual interaction within the entire breadth of healthcare. My topics of interest are: healthy lifestyle behaviour, shared decision making, eHealth interventions, person-centred care, video-feedback and continuing medical education, and specific patient groups like elderly cancer patients, patients with chronic diseases and patients with limited health literacy.
