Vaccine Coverage Dutch National Influenza Prevention Program 2024: brief monitor.

In the Netherlands, people who are at increased risk of complications from an influenza infection (flu), due to older age or a medical condition, are invited each year for influenza vaccination. In 2024, 54.2% of them were vaccinated. In 2024, 54.2% of those invited for influenza vaccination were vaccinated which is comparable with 2023, when 55.2% were vaccinated. Although lower than 2021, when 58.3% were vaccinated, this percentage is higher than in 2018-2020. Vaccine coverage increased from 2018 onwards, but declined again after the COVID-19 pandemic ended. When comparing with previous years, changes in the criteria for a medical indication for influenza vaccination should be taken into account. This is especially relevant for the 0-59 age group, as they are not invited because of their age.
